In Kerala, Onam is celebrated as the homecoming of King Mahabali. After his surrender to Vamana, Mahabali was granted the boon to visit his people once a year. Onam celebrates this divine return, symbolizing prosperity, unity, and abundance.
It serves as a reminder that true wealth lies not in material possessions but in harmony, love, and togetherness. On this day, people come together to share in the joy of life’s blessings, celebrating unity and the divine grace that flows through humility and service.

Once, a wise teacher was approached by a wealthy man who sought peace. “I have everything—wealth, power, respect—but I lack inner peace. Teach me how to find it,” said the man.
The teacher smiled and handed him a cup of tea. He began pouring the tea into the cup, but even after it was full, he kept pouring, causing it to overflow.
“Why are you still pouring?” the man exclaimed.
The teacher replied, “Like this cup, you are full of your own pride and achievements. How can I show you peace if there is no room for it to enter?”
The man realized that to find peace, he must first empty himself of ego and make space for the divine.
