In the resplendent Grand Ballroom of the Millennium Hilton Bangkok amongst the glamourous attendees, the sparkling chandeliers and clicking of the Champaigne glasses, where elegance met excellence, the Executive Housekeepers Association of Thailand hosted its prestigious annual Gala Night and World Housekeepers Association Summit.

The event, attended by leaders from 35 of the world’s most elite hotel chains, was an evening dedicated to celebrating excellence in hospitality. But as the night progressed, something unexpected happened.

An award was announced that had never existed before.

A category so profound, so unique, that it stunned even the most seasoned professionals in the industry.

It was titled:

“The Housekeeper of Housekeepers of the World.”

A standing ovation followed. Not for a corporate executive, not for a billion-dollar hotelier—but for a man whose presence alone had transformed the art of hospitality into a spiritual science.

The recipient?

None other than Param Arjan Guruji Shrii Arnav.

A Mentor Beyond Borders, A Master Beyond Recognition

The announcement rippled across the room, leaving the audience in awe. Many in attendance had heard whispers of the man the Thais lovingly call “Paa”—short for “Param Achan,” meaning Supreme Professor and Fatherly Guide.

But few expected that this evening would be devoted, in part, to honouring his silent but revolutionary contributions to global hospitality.

As Ms. Shantana Kalyakorn and Mr. Kunijang stepped forward to receive the award on his behalf, an air of reverence swept through the audience.

Paa-“Guruji Shrii Arnav,” Ms. Kalyakorn began, her voice brimming with emotion,

“is not just a leader, not just a mystic. He is a transformer of spaces, an architect of energy, and the unseen force behind what makes a place truly sacred.”

She was not alone in this sentiment.

One by one, stories of Guruji’s silent but legendary impact began to surface—each testimony unveiling a new dimension of his meticulous, almost mystical approach to order, efficiency, and harmony.

A Lesson in Tea: The Sofitel Phuket Encounter

One of the first voices to rise was Miss Bernadette, a Swiss-born housekeeping manager who had worked at Sofitel Phuket early in her career and now is senior trainer in the hospitality industry training the elite in Paris.

“I was just 23, placed in Asia for the first time,” she recounted. “I was struggling—language barriers, cultural differences, and the pressure of working in a luxury resort.

One day, my General Manager called me in and said, ‘A very special guest arrives tomorrow at 3 p.m. Take the utmost care.’

“I had read about Guruji online and felt nervous. But when he arrived, he was… different. Warm. Curious. Completely at ease.”

But what struck her the most was not his demeanour, but his morning routine.

“Every single morning, I would see him outside his suite, speaking to the plants. At first, I thought it was strange. But then I noticed something—he wasn’t just talking; he was gently removing old, withered leaves with his own fingers, tending to the plants as if they were his own.

“It was a lesson that would stay with me forever: True hospitality is about care at the deepest level—even for the smallest, unnoticed things.”

Her second lesson came over tea.

“One day, despite having the finest porcelain and cutlery in his suite, I saw him showing a housemaid how to properly clean a cup. He explained that any residual scent from the previous brew could ruin the experience of the next one. He demonstrated the technique—preheat with boiling water for 60 seconds, cleanse with a dry cotton cloth, and then pour the fresh brew.”

“This,” she concluded, “was the kind of attention to detail that transformed ordinary service into an unforgettable experience.” And those lessons have given me immense benefit and recognition throughout my career.

The Fear of Perfection: Holiday Inn’s Revelation

Another striking testimony came from Ms. Kalyakorn herself, who once worked at Holiday Inn as an Head Assistant Housekeeping Manager and had the privilege of getting introduced and serving Guruji just prior to 2 years of her retirement.

A seasoned well-respected professional in her own right having 35 years of professional experience she has had the experience of working in top global chains such as the Intercontinental, the Hilton, Marriot, Crowne Plaza and St. Regis etc before eventually ending her career at the Holiday Inn.

What is remarkable is that she is acknowledged for her service not just of State guests but also visiting Royalty Worldwide.

She recalled an incident where a new maid assigned to Guruji’s suite was trembling in fear.

“She said to me, ‘I hear the master is so perfect that not a single mistake should happen.’

“When I went to his room, I understood why. The place was immaculate—Zen-like in its organization. His white starched shirts were lined without a single crease at one end, his silk garments placed at another end, and between them—his signature orange.”

“But what shocked me the most,” she admitted, “was not just the perfection, but the fact that even in a room with constant meetings, visitors, and activity—it always remained in that pristine state.” And Oh my- It smells so Good- Just Heavenly.

The Impossible Odor: The Dusit Secret

Then came one of the most shocking revelations of the evening.

A former senior manager at Dusit – One of the most exclusive Heritage Hotels in the world shared an experience that had troubled even the most experienced professionals.

“We had a royal guest arriving in six hours,” he said. “The only problem? The suite meant for him had a lingering cigar Odor—despite industrial-level cleaning, it refused to go away.”

A bellboy suggested, “Let’s ask Guruji.”

When they called, Guruji responded with a six-step method:

  • Turn the air conditioner fan to the highest setting.
  • Raise the room temperature to 30°C.
  • Place six bowls of baking soda around the room.
  • Close the room for two hours.
  • Conduct standard cleaning procedures.
  • Air it out for one hour before using a fine freshener.

“The result?” the manager concluded. “It worked better than any industrial-grade cleanser.

The guest stayed for three nights, and a major treaty was signed in that very room.” And yes, there were two more ingredients in that baking soda bowl- that I am not divulging.

I should also have a premium secret from the Grandmaster himself that keeps me relevant and earning he chuckled.

The audience gasped.

In that moment, it became clear to everyone—Guruji’s impact went beyond organization, beyond cleanliness.

He was an alchemist of spaces.

A grandmaster of energy and flow.

By the end of the night, it was evident—this was no ordinary award.
