Adesh Adesh- Its An Order
I am ever-present in the house of the yogi, in the form of a disciple.
The Voice of Maya:
It is better for everyone to keep a distance from me,
But you cannot, for I am Maya.
I am an illusion, a mirage. I do not exist, yet I am. I am Maya, Maya.
I am so sweet that I cannot be renounced, and I keep leading the ignorant astray.
Maya says, “I was born from the Conscious Being in the form of a woman.
I am neither married nor unmarried.
I am neither fully united with the divine nor entirely separate from it.
My existence arises only through the essence of consciousness.”
I have given birth to countless beings, and I have created numerous flaws within them.
I do not leave behind the young and vibrant; I keep them entangled.
Yet, I remain indivisible, unbroken.
No one can truly experience me; they only perceive a false sensation of indulgence.
In the House of the Yogi:
I dwell as a disciple, but my connection with the soul is never genuine, and hence I remain alone.
I neither have a maternal home nor a marital abode; I transcend both this world and the next.
Like God, I am omnipresent.
Yet, I never touch the essence of the Conscious Being.
I am Maya, Maya.
The Difference Between Maya and Yogamaya:
Both Maya and Yogamaya are divine powers of the Supreme.
What is Yogamaya?
Yogamaya is the intimate, intrinsic power of the Divine.
- All divine actions are performed through Yogamaya.
- It is through Yogamaya that the Lord manifests divine leelas (playful acts).
For example, when Lord Krishna was born, the guards fell asleep, the prison gates opened, and the Yamuna gave way—all of this happened through Yogamaya.
Characteristics of Yogamaya:
Whenever something seemingly impossible happens, know that it is the work of Yogamaya.
For instance:
- The all-knowing, omnipotent Lord, who liberates everyone, appears tied by the ropes of Yashoda’s love.
- This is not a mere act; it is Yogamaya at play, making the impossible possible.
The Unique Power of Yogamaya:
Yogamaya allows saints and divine beings to
perform actions without being bound by Maya.
- For example, anger is a flaw created by Maya.
- Yet, when saints or the Divine express anger, it is not the anger of Maya but of Yogamaya—free from attachment or flaw.
To an observer, it may appear as anger, but within, there is no agitation.
The Enigma of Krishna’s Celibacy and Yogamaya:
Gopis often wondered how Krishna remained celibate despite His divine playfulness.
- Yogamaya allows one to perform actions seemingly bound by Maya but remain untouched.
- Krishna explains that through Yogamaya, He performs actions beyond human comprehension.
What is Maya?
Maya is the external energy of the Divine. It binds beings who turn away from God or fail to recognize the Divine as their ultimate reality.
- Those who attain divine realization are freed from Maya and instead empowered by Yogamaya, enabling them to perform actions yet remain unattached.
The Form of Yogamaya:
Yogamaya manifests as divine feminine forms like Durga, Sita, Kali, Radha, Lakshmi, and Parvati.
Do not perceive Yogamaya as merely feminine; it is the divine power of the Lord.
- Yogamaya can assume any form at will, transcending gender and physicality.
- Saints like Narada and Tulsidas, though appearing alone, are accompanied by the divine power of Yogamaya.

Understanding Maya- Yogamaya and Guruji with Story of Dushyant and Shakuntala:
Maya, My Love: From Illusion to Disillusion to Solution
“I am Maya—sweet yet elusive, omnipresent yet untouchable, the eternal play of illusion and reality.”
Maya weaves her web, not just in the house of the yogi but in every life. Her dance has been witnessed by sages, lovers, and kings alike.
One such tale is that of King Dushyant and Shakuntala, where Maya played her profound and mysterious role.
The Tale of Dushyant and Shakuntala: A Dance of Maya
King Dushyant, a noble ruler, found himself enchanted by Shakuntala, a divine beauty born of sage Vishwamitra and the celestial Menaka.
Their love blossomed under the watchful eyes of nature, and in their union, Dushyant gave Shakuntala his blue sapphire ring as a token of eternal love and remembrance.
However, Maya had a different plan.
As Dushyant returned to his kingdom, Shakuntala, lost in thoughts of her beloved, failed to notice the arrival of sage Durvasa.
Feeling disrespected, the sage cursed her: “The one you think of will forget you until he sees something that reminds him of you.”
The curse, born of Maya, cast its shadow over their love.
The blue sapphire ring became the only bridge between their realities, holding the power to restore Dushyant’s memory.
The Role of Maya in the Story
Maya creates attachment and forgetfulness.
When the ring was lost in the river, Dushyant’s memory faded. This symbolizes how Maya entices us with illusion and then takes away what seems real.
Maya tests and transforms.
Shakuntala, in her suffering, represents the soul’s journey through disillusionment, where one must confront the transient nature of life.
The solution lies in Yogamaya.
When the fisherman found the ring and returned it to Dushyant, his memory was restored. This act represents Yogamaya’s intervention—bringing clarity and resolution.
The Blue Sapphire Ring: A Cosmic Symbol
In the language of Vedic astrology, the blue sapphire is the gemstone of Saturn, the planet of karma and lessons.
- Just as Saturn tests and purifies, the blue sapphire in this tale symbolizes the karmic bond between Dushyant and Shakuntala.
- It also reflects Maya’s influence—binding them in separation and ultimately reuniting them through a karmic solution.
Reflection and Takeaway
Maya, like the blue sapphire ring, is both a blessing and a challenge. It binds us with attachments, forgetfulness, and desires, but it also holds the key to transcendence. In the journey from illusion (Maya) to disillusion (Durvasa’s curse) and finally to solution (Yogamaya’s intervention), we find the essence of life’s greatest lessons.
Whether in the house of the yogi or in the heart of a lover, Maya is ever-present. But through divine grace and inner awakening, one can transform illusion into liberation.
Closing Thoughts
“Adesh Adesh”- Its the highest order from
the Adi Nath- Lord Shiva
May the tale of Dushyant and Shakuntala inspire us to recognize the role of Maya in our lives and seek the solutions offered by Yogamaya’s divine guidance.
