Pitru Paksha- Honouring the ancestors & getting their Blessings & Protection 
Today marks the official start of the pitru paksha-The 15 day period marked for our honouring and making sacred offerings for deceased ancestors .
In this period exclusively dedicated to our pitrus/ ancestors their energies are awakened.
We should make offerings praying for their souls and ask for their Blessings.
The Order is reverse for deceased Father- Grandfather etc and same from Mother's side as many you can remember.
Post that you can pray or make Donations for loved ones and friends also.
Our ancestors are our first line of defence regardless of any problem so asking for their blessings are vital.
If you do not remember the lunar date/ Tithi when your ancestor passed away you can do the prayers on the Sarv Pitr Amavasya-The Moon less night.
This Year it falls on 14 Oct 2023
On this day Pray for them, make food items that were their favourite, first make a mental offering to them and offer some to poor and finally eat yourself as their Blessings.
