Thai SABAI- The Ultimate Philosophy of all philosophies- A worthwhile practice to practice & propagate happiness.

At the very outset best wishes for Mahanavmi. May the divine mother bless you with good health, happiness and abundance. Today is our Fantastic Friday -So Celebrate Yourself and Make a celebration to be lucky, rich and happy. Happy Friday Tiger

Many of you who visit the Great Land of Siam- Thailand are aware of the word Sabai and think it means Happy- Well it does but it means more.

After Having studied, practiced , analysed and brainstormed with intellectual giants over many years I think the Thai Philosophy of Sabai Sabai Is profound, practical and is Golden for all seasons and times including the one in which we are living Today.

In My Opinion without getting into lengthy expositions the Term/ Greeting/ philosophy of Sabai Sabai means:

 I BE AT EASE

 9 and also  9:12 way.

Be At Ease- Means relaxed - comfortable and most importantly free from DIS-EASE.

Think of it my lovelies- If You are at ease in any situation especially the tough ones involving conflicting emotions of anger, hatred, confusion or at the other end of the spectrum when happy, elated- In any time- Sabai Sabai- I be at ease.

Think .. Think Hard.. The Buddha is Sabai Sabai and if you start practicing Sabai Sabai consciously- slowly but surely you will discover a new happiness and a new you.

If you want to be legend level then practicing Sabai Sabai =12 especially in Difficult situations will make you polished as a Diamond.

Happy- I be at ease. Sad- I be At ease.

The I In I be at ease is your unique identity and You will have your very own and personal “ Sabai Sabai” and if you can share that with the world - Then We would have contributed our share of Sabai= Happiness.

In my very brief interactions with Dr. Penpisut Jintasophon I have always felt Sabai Sabai. She is a phenomenal human being right at the centre of Main stream politics and with impeccable academic record and credentials and I have seen her in many social activities including mobilising Help and support in trying conditions like helping a neighbourhood affected by a fire accident and like.

I have always found her to be affable and in sabai sabai. Think about it -amongst many other phenomenal credentials and social works she is a graduate from the Executive Program – MIT Management Sloan School. Blockchain Technologies : Business Innovation and Application, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). And Still Sabai Sabai- May God Make more like her and may she always be in Sabai Sabai.

By Grace of The Buddha Let us try to assimilate the vital fundamentals of I be at ease and Sabai Sabai with an anecdote:

The Storm and the Sage

Once, in a distant village nestled at the foot of a great mountain, lived an old sage named Maharshi.

He was known far and wide for his wisdom and serenity. No matter the circumstances, people always found him in a state of peace. Some called him the “Man of Stone” because nothing ever seemed to shake him.

One day, the village was hit by an unexpected storm. Fierce winds lashed at the trees, lightning tore the sky, and the torrential rain flooded the streets.

The people were terrified, running to find shelter, frantically trying to save what they could from the flooding. Amidst this chaos, a young man named Arjun rushed to the sage’s humble hut, desperate for advice.

Breathless and drenched, Arjun banged on the door. Maharshi calmly opened it, greeting him with a soft smile. Inside the hut, a small fire was burning steadily, the only thing that seemed untouched by the storm raging outside.

“Guruji, how can you be so calm?” Arjun asked, his voice trembling with fear. “The village is drowning, people are in panic, and yet here you are… at ease.”

Maharshi motioned for Arjun to sit by the fire. “Come, child, sit. Let me share with you a story of my own youth.”

As the storm howled outside, the sage began:

“Years ago, I was just like you—afraid, restless, always anxious about what was to come. I lived near a great river. One year, the river swelled and overflowed, flooding our village. We lost everything. I was devastated, but my master then said something I never forgot:

‘A man who finds peace only in calm waters is no master of his mind. It is when the storm comes that your ease must shine brightest.’”

QP

Arjun looked at Maharshi, confused. “But how? How can I be at ease when everything is falling apart around me?”

Maharshi leaned forward, his eyes twinkling. “You see, the storm outside is just a reflection of the storms within. Fear, anger, anxiety—they are like wind and rain, battering our hearts.

But deep inside, there is always a place of stillness, a place where the storm cannot reach. When you connect with that stillness, you will realize that the storm is temporary, but your ease is eternal.”

QP

Arjun was silent for a moment, letting the words sink in. “So… I must find that place within?”

Maharshi nodded. “Exactly. And it begins with one simple truth: ‘I Be At Ease’. Say it, believe it, live it. The world may crumble, but your inner peace remains unshaken. That is true power.”

Arjun repeated softly, “I be at ease.”

The sage smiled. “Yes. Now, return to the village, help where you can, but remember—no matter what happens, keep that ease within you.

The storm will pass, but your ease will remain.”

QP- Guruji Shrii Arnav

Arjun stood up, and though the storm still raged outside, something within him had shifted. He was no longer afraid.

He walked out of the hut, and as the wind whipped his face, he whispered to himself, “

“I be at ease.”

Moral:

The philosophy of “I Be At Ease” teaches that while storms—both literal and emotional—are inevitable, true mastery lies in finding peace amidst the chaos.

The external world will always have its ups and downs, but when one nurtures the inner state of ease, they become unshaken, like the sage who stays calm in any storm.

शान्तिं परमं यत् स्वात्मनि वर्तते।

(Shāntiṁ paramaṁ yat svātmani vartate.)

Translation: “The supreme peace lies within the self.”

 QP- Guruji Shrii Arnav

 I BE AT EASE

This phrase, simple yet profound, holds the power of transformation. To say “I be at ease” is to declare a mastery over oneself, to transcend the immediate turbulence of emotions, whether they are high waves of joy or deep troughs of sorrow. It is the essence of being Sabai Sabai, not just in comfort but in command of one’s inner world.

Being at ease is more than just the absence of tension or conflict; it is the presence of a deep, unwavering peace that comes from knowing and accepting oneself. It is recognizing that life, with all its fluctuations, is temporary, but the state of ease is eternal. The Buddha was Sabai Sabai not because he had no challenges, but because he had mastered the art of remaining at peace in the face of them.

To say “I be at ease” is a statement of power, not weakness. In difficult moments—whether you are confronted with anger, envy, or confusion—the ability to remain at ease is the ultimate triumph. This is where 9:12 comes in. Nine and twelve symbolize balance, harmony, and the conscious cultivation of a state of ease, regardless of external conditions. To practice Sabai Sabai consciously is to invite the divine within you to remain calm, to stay grounded.

Being at ease doesn’t mean you don’t care. It means you care so deeply about your inner peace and the energy you bring to the world that you choose not to let circumstances dictate your emotions. You remain the master, and that is the core of the 9:12 Guruji Shrii Arnav’s way.
