One of the well-known stories from the Jataka Tales that emphasises the value of forgiveness is the story of "The Forgiving Snake."

The Jataka Tales are the many lives of Buddha before he Got the supreme enlightment.

The Forgiving Snake

Background:

The Jataka Tales are a collection of stories about the previous lives of the Buddha in both human and animal forms. These tales illustrate moral lessons and ethical values.

The First lesson on Forgiving and the 1st implementation:

Once upon a time, there was a wise and kind Brahmin named Agrabodhi who lived in a small village.

Near the village, in a dense forest, lived a poisonous snake that would bite anyone who came close to it. The villagers were terrified of the snake and would avoid the forest.

One day, the Brahmin decided to visit the forest to collect some medicinal herbs.

While searching for herbs, he encountered the poisonous snake. The snake, ready to strike, saw the Brahmin and stopped. The Brahmin, with his calm and compassionate demeanor, spoke to the snake.

"Dear snake," said the Brahmin, "why do you harm these villagers who mean you no harm? You have caused much suffering and fear. Would it not be better to live peacefully and let others live in peace?"

The snake, surprised by the Brahmin's gentle words, felt a change in its heart. It realized the truth in the Brahmin's words and decided to mend its ways. The snake promised the Brahmin that it would no longer bite anyone.

The Brahmin, pleased with the snake's decision, blessed it and continued his journey. The snake, true to its word, stopped biting people.

However, as time passed, the villagers noticed the snake's change in behavior. Seeing that the snake no longer posed a threat, they became cruel towards it. They would throw stones at the snake, hit it with sticks, and tease it mercilessly.

Remember the Lesson Here Again My Lovelies

The snake, although in pain, remembered its promise to the Brahmin and did not retaliate.

One day, severely wounded and barely alive, the snake managed to crawl to the Brahmin's hut.

The Brahmin was shocked to see the condition of the snake and asked what had happened.

The snake explained how it had kept its promise and did not bite anyone, but in return, the villagers had treated it cruelly.

The Brahmin, filled with compassion, tended to the snake's wounds and said, "My dear friend, I am proud of you for keeping your promise and choosing the path of non-violence.

However, you must also learn to protect yourself without causing harm to others. There is a balance to be maintained."

The Brahmin then advised the snake to hiss and scare away people if they tried to harm it, but never to bite them.

The snake understood the wisdom in the Brahmin's words and followed his advice.

From that day on, it would hiss at anyone who tried to harm it, thus protecting itself without causing harm.

Moral of the Story:

The story of "The Forgiving Snake" teaches us the value of forgiveness and non-violence. It emphasizes that while it is important to forgive and avoid causing harm, one must also know how to protect oneself from harm. True forgiveness and non-violence come with the wisdom of maintaining balance and self-protection.

Important:

Agrabodhi (अग्रबोधि) refers to “supreme enlightenment”, according to the Gaganagañjaparipṛcchā: the eighth chapter of the Mahāsaṃnipāta (a collection of Mahāyāna Buddhist Sūtras)

All Divine texts have a concept of forgiveness. Allow me to share the central commonality in the 4 Gigantic texts of

 The Bible

 The Bhagwad Gita

 The Guru Granth Sahib.

This is a treasure that I bequeath to you

BUT

If you are still at Youtube level for your astrological predictions- don’t waste time. Reading any further will do just that.

Meanwhile as for my duty towards ardent reader and devotees.. Here is the further discussion:

The concept of forgiveness is a central theme in the Bible, Quran, Bhagavad Gita, and Guru Granth Sahib. Despite the diverse religious and cultural backgrounds, these texts share several common points regarding forgiveness and These are for your contemplation that will take you to a meditative and contemplative state - Unparalleled.

 1. Divine Nature of Forgiveness

- **Bible:** Forgiveness is a divine attribute, exemplified by God's grace and mercy. The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love (Psalm 103:8).

- **Quran:** Allah is described as the Most Forgiving and Most Merciful. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful (Quran 39:53).

- **Bhagavad Gita:** Forgiveness is a divine quality and is part of a virtuous life. Vigour, forgiveness, fortitude, purity, freedom from malice, absence of haughtiness—these are the endowments of the one born destined to have the divine nature (Bhagavad Gita 16:3).

- **Guru Granth Sahib:** God is inherently forgiving and merciful. O Nanak, God is the Forgiver of sinners, the Merciful, the Cherisher of the poor (Guru Granth Sahib, Ang 121).

 2. Human Forgiveness

- **Bible:** Believers are encouraged to forgive others as God has forgiven them. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors (Matthew 6:12).

- **Quran:** Believers are urged to forgive others to emulate Allah’s merciful nature. Whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allah (Quran 42:40).

- **Bhagavad Gita:** Forgiveness is a virtue linked to self-control and humility. He who hates no creature, who is friendly and compassionate to all... and forgiving (Bhagavad Gita 12:13-14).

- **Guru Granth Sahib:** Sikhs are encouraged to practice forgiveness and show compassion. Be kind and compassionate to others, as God has been kind to you (Guru Granth Sahib, Ang 1256).

 3. Spiritual Growth and Purification

- **Bible:** Forgiveness is necessary for spiritual well-being and relationship with God. For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you (Matthew 6:14).

- **Quran:** Forgiveness leads to spiritual elevation and purification. And Allah will replace their evil deeds with good. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful (Quran 25:70).

- **Bhagavad Gita:** Forgiveness helps in overcoming negative emotions and leads to liberation. By forgiving, one's mind becomes pure (Bhagavad Gita 5:23).

- **Guru Granth Sahib:** Forgiveness purifies the heart and brings inner peace. Forgiveness brings you to peace, and by forgiving, you will find peace (Guru Granth Sahib, Ang 266).

 4. Forgiveness and Compassion

- **Bible:** Forgiveness is tied to compassion and love. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you (Ephesians 4:32).

- **Quran:** Compassion and mercy are essential aspects of forgiveness. And let them pardon and overlook. Would you not like that Allah should forgive you? (Quran 24:22).

- **Bhagavad Gita:** Compassion is a key element of forgiveness. Who is friendly and compassionate to all... and forgiving (Bhagavad Gita 12:13-14).

- **Guru Granth Sahib:** Forgiveness is a manifestation of compassion. One who does not forgive is miserable and unhappy; without forgiving, one cannot find peace (Guru Granth Sahib, Ang 259).

 5. Practical Aspects of Forgiveness

- **Bible:** Forgiveness fosters reconciliation and peace among individuals. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone (Colossians 3:13).

- **Quran:** Forgiveness promotes social harmony and reconciliation. The retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allah (Quran 42:40).

- **Bhagavad Gita:** Forgiveness aids in maintaining inner peace and non-retaliation. The same in honor and disgrace, the same to friend and foe, abandoning all undertakings (Bhagavad Gita 12:18-19).

- **Guru Granth Sahib:** Forgiveness is crucial for peaceful coexistence and spiritual growth. Forgive others for their mistakes, and in this way, be compassionate to all beings (Guru Granth Sahib, Ang 259).

Tale of the Forgetful Fakir and the Healing Gem

Once upon a time in the bustling town of Maharajpur, there lived a jovial and somewhat forgetful fakir named Baba Bhoolenath.

 Bhoolenath NOT Bholenath

Baba Bhoolenath was known far and wide for his unique ability to heal ailments with a mystical gem called the "Jadooi Ratna" (Magic Gem).

This gem was said to have been blessed by the gods themselves and could cure any ailment or sorrow.

Baba Bhoolenath had a quirky habit: he often forgot where he kept his precious gem. He would spend hours searching for it, only to find it in the most unexpected places—like inside a teapot, under his sleeping mat, or even tucked into his turban.

One fine morning, as the sun shone brightly over Maharajpur, a wealthy merchant named Lala Lajpat came to Baba Bhoolenath with a desperate plea. "Baba, my dear daughter Rani has fallen ill with a mysterious fever. Please, use your Jadooi Ratna to heal her!"

Baba Bhoolenath, ever eager to help, agreed immediately. "Of course, Lala Lajpat! But first, let me find my gem." He chuckled nervously and started rummaging through his belongings.

Hours passed, and Baba Bhoolenath was still searching. The merchant grew anxious, but Baba Bhoolenath, with his infectious laughter, kept the mood light. Finally, after upending his entire hut, Baba Bhoolenath found the gem inside his left shoe. "Aha! Here it is!" he exclaimed triumphantly.

Baba Bhoolenath rushed to Lala Lajpat’s house with the gem. As he held it over Rani, he chanted some ancient mantras. Miraculously, her fever broke, and she sat up, healthy and smiling. The merchant was overjoyed and offered Baba Bhoolenath a hefty reward, which he graciously accepted.

A few days later, Baba Bhoolenath was invited to a grand feast at Lala Lajpat’s house in gratitude for his help. The entire town attended, eager to see the famous fakir. Baba Bhoolenath, however, had a new problem—he couldn’t find the gem again! He had put it somewhere safe after curing Rani but couldn’t recall where.

As he arrived at the feast, the townspeople eagerly awaited his speech. Baba Bhoolenath decided to make a light-hearted confession. "Dear friends," he began, "I must share a secret with you. I have once again misplaced my Jadooi Ratna!"

The crowd burst into laughter, knowing Baba Bhoolenath's forgetful nature. Amidst the laughter, a small boy named Munna piped up, "Baba, is this your gem?" He held up the Jadooi Ratna, which he had found under a cushion in Baba’s hut.

Baba Bhoolenath laughed heartily and said, "Ah, Munna! You have saved me from my forgetfulness! You shall be my apprentice and keeper of the gem!" The crowd cheered, and the feast continued with even more joy and laughter.

In the days that followed, Munna became Baba Bhoolenath’s trusted aide. With Munna’s sharp memory and Baba Bhoolenath’s healing skills, the duo became even more beloved in Maharajpur.

Baba Bhoolenath's forgetfulness was now a source of humor and affection, and everyone in the town forgave his quirks, knowing that his heart was always in the right place.

 Moral of the Story:

Forgiveness and humor go hand in hand. While we all have our shortcomings, a forgiving heart and a good sense of humor can turn even the most forgetful moments into cherished memories. And sometimes, the help we need comes from the most unexpected places, bringing joy and laughter along the way.

I really wonder that some who have undergone nearly 100 plus versions of HOGSU over 2 plus years can’t get even one going or Hire one decent photographer but nonetheless. Here are three suggested movies that are masterpieces that graciously convey the essential virtue of Forgiving:

Guruji Shrii Arnav's Reflections on Forgiveness

Forgiveness is not merely an act; it is a profound journey of the soul. It transforms wounds into wisdom and pain into peace.

Just as a gem undergoes immense pressure to emerge radiant and pure, so does the heart when it learns to forgive. In the glow of forgiveness, we find the true essence of our divinity.

"In the alchemy of life, forgiveness is the catalyst that turns the lead of suffering into the gold of wisdom.

When you forgive, you not only liberate others but also yourself, lighting the path to inner peace and profound spiritual growth."

— Guruji Shrii Arnav

I accept your forgiveness now Let me go Back To the Gandhi speech.

But on more serious note:

Forgive yourself first and that would be a great first step in auto calibration

And I ask your forgiveness

I just cannot stay at your level.. Life is movement and I have responsibilities.

 PLEASE FORGIVE ME
